The First International Dor Hemshech Workshop for Emerging Zionist Leadership
The first international Dor Hemshech Workshop, previously the Dor Hemshech Conference, will be a festival of Zionist creativity, with the aim of changing the face of the Zionist movement by inspiring and empowering the emerging generation of Zionist leadership, ages 27-45, and incorporating the energy of this generation into the organizational framework of the World Zionist Organisation. The workshop will now take place in Jerusalem for 25 North Americans and Europeans plus a day of activities with Israeli peers.
The four goals of the conference are as follows:
The Rejuvenation of the Zionist Movement through the engagement of the next generation in its leadership and development
The Revitalization of the Zionist vision with the injection of fresh ideas and the broadening of ideological discourse
The Realization of Zionist objectives through innovative programming and initiatives expressing Zionist values and ideals
The Celebration of Jewish peoplehood, a century of Zionist achievement and of 60 Years of Israel’s independence
The First International Dor Hemshech Workshop in Israel will be part study retreat, part think-tank and an opportunity to meet new people, from Israel and abroad, who are involved in the similar pioneering Zionist ventures. International networking, including interaction with Israeli peers poised to take on major leadership roles, will be a major component of the gathering. Invitees will be expected to commit themselves to direct involvement in a variety of projects that it is anticipated the conference will generate.
Participants will play an important role in shaping the Workshop by taking part in a multi-faceted preparatory program administered over the internet. They will be asked to formulate position papers or project proposals, prepare workshops or presentations, respond to a recommended list of readings and/or take an active role in organizing some aspect of the gathering. In addition, they be expected to. commit themselves to involvement in a variety of projects that the Workshop will generate.
