Artificial Flowers and Artificial Plants Have Their Advantages
While few things are as lovely and fragrant as real flowers and plants, artificial flowers and artificial plants do have their advantages in some situations. If you are planning an event, or need to send a remembrance, sometimes artificial flowers and artificial plants make the best sense.
When many people think about artificial flowers and artificial plants, they think of those awful plastic arrangements found gathering dust on discount department store shelves. But things are quite different today and realistic silk orchids or flowers have replaced the tacky plastic flowers and plants of the past.
Weddings
Artificial flowers and artificial plants can be great for extending a wedding budget. Silk flowers can be used in place of real flowers, and with a drop of scented oil applied in the very center, most people can’t tell the difference between the two.
Silk flower wedding arrangements are also perfect for high traffic areas where real flowers would take a bruising. Artificial flowers and artificial plants make perfect pew decorations. Guests may accidentally brush up against them as they are seated, but the petals will look as lovely as ever. You never need to worry about silk orchids or flowers wilting.
Scrapbooking, Crafting, and Cake Decorating
Artificial flowers and artificial plants are the perfect way to add floral accents to scrapbook pages and crafts. For example, a copy of the wedding invitation is usually saved by the bride for a keepsake. Silk flowers, whole or with petals and leaves separated for convenience, can be used to decorate the pages of a scrapbook or keepsake frame.

Garden Flowers: Tulip Trees
The Tulip Tree has got its name from its tulip shaped flowers. The flowers of a Tulip Tree are located at great heights and typically reach a size of 2.5 inches. The Tulip Tree produces monoecious flowers with yellow-green petals. The corolla has a beautiful vivid orange shade. Some people find the leaves of the Tulip Tree similar to tulips too, at least with a little imagination. The leaves are four lobed and have a notch at the tip. A Tulip Tree leaf will typically reach a length of 4-6 inches in diameter. The leaf colour is bright green and will turn yellow in autumn.
The Tulip Tree is sometimes called “The King of the Magnolias”. It is called Liriodendron tulipifera in Latin, and it belongs to the Family Magnoliaceae. The Tulip Tree is related to the Chinese Tulip Tree (Liriodendron Chinese).
The Tulip Tree is utilized as timber and is very appreciated among carpenters since the wood is easy to work with. Tulip Tree wood has a pale yellow color and is particularly popular in furniture, wood carvings, cabinetry, veneer, jewelry boxes and musical instruments. Earlier, the Tulip Tree was frequently used in canoes created by Native Americans. The Tulip Tree bark has been used as a substitute for cinchona in traditional remedies.

Flowers moss and salt and pepper
When I was a young apprentice oasis foam was a new idea and the traditional method of using sphagnum moss and wire fro funeral tributes was used. As a trainee part of the day was spent mossing which meant attaching the moss with twine or wire to metal frames there were the standard wreath hearts cushions and letters but you could obtain any shape you liked. In Covent garden flower market in London a very talented man would work with wires and soldering iron to create any shape requested I would watch mesmerised as aeroplanes ships and even animals would be produced nothing seemed impossible .Back at the shop the frames would be packed with moss and there trained florist would attach the flowers using stub wires.

Flowers – one of life’s small pleasures
Everyone loves to get flowers – they’re a great gift that you can put on display in your house, reminding you for a week or so of the person who gave them to you. More than that, they can be beautiful things in themselves, even if you buy them for yourself.
Today you can order flowers in person, by phone or over the Internet. Even when you think it’s too late to order some flowers for them to get to someone in time, the chances are that you can still find somewhere that will do it for you, if you’re willing to pay a premium – there are shops out there that can deliver flowers faster than pizzas.
Perhaps the nicest way to get flowers, however, is not to buy them at all – instead, head down to your local garden centre, get a selection of seeds, plant them and water them. If you choose the right kind of flowers, you can grow your own flowers within literally a week of first planting them, and it’s a very satisfying feeling to know that you’ve grown your own flowers for yourself. If you then give them to someone else as a gift, it will make it far more special.
Whatever kind of flowers you get, make sure to put some thought into it. It is all too common, especially for men, to just walk into a shop and grab the first thing that catches your eye. It is much better if you do your research, know which flowers are in season and which kinds of flowers go together well in an arrangement, and especially find out what people’s favourite flowers are before you get them flowers as a present – otherwise you might end up getting them a bunch of flowers that they don’t even like!
